Another N.D. drabble! Yay! Man, reading through all of these lately has made me really nostalgic. And has got my N.D. characters all stirring in the recesses of my mind, too. I'll probably end up getting back into it again, which would be nice. I miss the Kinmokusei universe headcanon that Cassandra-san and I have.

Plus writing some scenes again will help get my muses off their butts and working properly again. I mean, they're actually doing a bit lately, but I want to try to get into the swing of writing like I used to, and I'm nowhere near that yet.

I AM DETERMINED, THOUGH!! >__O!!

"It wasn't supposed to be this way."

"Hm?"

"This."

"What..?"

"It wasn't supposed to be like this."

"I see..."

Sighing, Taiga turned her head, her hair rustling against the pillow, to look at Hikaru, who was laying on his stomach next to her, arms crossed under his head, half-asleep and barely aware of what she was saying at all. A smile quirked at her lips.

"Never mind, you're obviously not paying attention."

"Sou..." yawning, he blinked at her, a couple of times, then shook his head. "Gomen, gomen. I'm listening. I really am..."

"Yuh-huh."

The skeptical tone to her voice made him chuckle, and he stifled another yawn, then uncrossed his arms and propped himself up on his elbows. "See? I am too listening to you... you were saying..." a pause, then; "...uh... something?"

Taiga couldn't help giggling. "Nandemonai."

"Aw, come on... I'm awake now!"

A quick shake of her head. "Ah... I was just saying that, you know, it wasn't supposed to be like this." And when he gave her a questioning look, she continued with; "I mean us, baka... we were never supposed to be like this."

"Like..?"

A half-smile made her eyes shine. "I was never supposed to fall in love with you."

"Oh, that," he grinned, "I have that effect on people."

"Is that so?"

"Hmm."

She fell silent, then, green eyes turning away toward the window and he watched her for a long moment, a contented smile of his own on his lips, then rolled onto his side, reached with one arm, and tugged her over to him.

"What are you doing?"

"Me? Oh, nothing at all..."

"Liar."

Why did she always let him do what he pleased?

With his arms around her, and her pressed against his chest, he tipped his head down and grazed his lips against the crook of her neck, gently, making her squirm a bit. "Three more days, you know."

"Aa." One of her hands raised, absently, and light glinted off of the ring that she now wore. "I know."

"Nervous?"

"A little bit." She admitted. "What about you?"

"Me? Nervous?" He laughed, "nah!"

A giggle. "Liar, again."

Hikaru chuckled, resting his chin against her shoulder. "I think everyone's still in shock," he told her, sounding amused, then; "especially Akai-sama. He looked like he was going to have a stroke when he found out."

Taiga sighed. "That poor man is far too excitable."

"Not as much as Seiya-san!"

She almost shuddered. "I don't know if I want him coming, Hikaru... God knows what he might say or do!"

"Yare, yare..." he knew, of course, that Seiya was the first one she would have chosen to invite, had they been limited in the number of people who could come. "Josei still thinks it's funny as hell, too, and-- ah!"

He moved suddenly, releasing her and hopping out of the bed, and she turned over to look at him, a touch of confusion evident in her eyes.

"Hikaru-san?"

"I almost forgot!" He was digging through the pocket of his jacket, which was hanging against the back of the desk chair, looking for something. Turning an eye toward her, he added; "and what've I told you about calling me 'Hikaru-san' anymore?"

"Gomen, gomen." She rolled her eyes. "Old habits die hard, I guess."

No response. He wasn't paying attention again.

"AHA!"

A faint jingling.

"Um... Hikaru?"

"Here," before she knew it, he was back at the bed, sitting on the edge and holding something out to her: a bracelet, made of thin brown leather, sporting five delicate gold-colored bells. "Josei gave this to me as a joke, but I figured you might like it."

Taiga frowned. "What's the joke?"

A shrug. "Who knows, with Josei's sense of humor." He shook it, making the bells jingle a bit. "I won't wear it, but I thought you might. Anyway, you want it?"

"I... guess?"

"Cool."

He seemed so pleased as he hooked it around her wrist that she didn't have the heart to tell him that she probably wouldn't wear it, either. Once it was clasped, she raised her hand to eye-level and jingled the bracelet. A smile lifted her lips again.

"Arigatou ne."

He laughed at that, and leaned down to kiss her lightly. "No problemo."

Taiga found herself giggling again, as he moved to trail his lips down her neck and across her shoulder, his hands drifting up her sides. "Hentai." She accused, "don't you think about anything else?"

"Very seldom," he admitted cheerfully, making her laugh once more.

"Remind me again why I agreed to marry you?"

"Love?"

"Oh yeah. That."

"Heh."

"Damn it."

"Yare, yare..."

Aw, Hikaru and Taiga. They always make me smile. ♥

lmao it's been so long that I honestly don't remember what the inside joke was with the bells. Had something to do with Josei and the wedding, I think? But I could be wrong. I fail at memory stuff, I guess? xD;;
