Because I can never have enough unfinished projects, obviously. >__>;
So I’ve got this Supernatural!inspired AU Kingdom Hearts fic swirling around in the recesses of my brain. It’s new as of last night, so I’m still very much in the planning stages, buuuuuut… here’s some of my notes so far~ ♥
MAJOR CHARACTERS
ROXAS & VENTUS STRIFE: Roxas and Ven are twin brothers, with Roxas being older than Ven by a few minutes. They are telepathically linked to each other, which makes their bond very strong. Their parents died when they were very young and so they were raised mostly by their older brother, Cloud, who also taught them how to be Hunters. Now they travel the worlds seeking out and hunting down things that go bump in the night. Cloud himself is a Hunter as well, but works alone and the twins rarely see him anymore. Roxas and Ven have a dog, Bolt, who travels with them and has been trained to aide in their hunting. Roxas is more of the traditional fighter while Ven both fights and uses magic: both are more than capable of defending themselves and others. They don’t have many friends, but are close with Namine, who still lives back where they grew up.
SORA & VANITAS LEONHART: Sora and Vanitas are also twin brothers, Van being older than Sora by about a half an hour—he never lets Sora forget that he’s the “older brother”, either. They have an older brother, Squall, who lives and works abroad in the military. Their Mom has a cat named Mr Tibbs who is very fond of Riku and gives their Dad allergy attacks. Sora has a goldfish named Cleo who just swims in circles all the time and who Van calls “Bob” just because it annoys his brother. Sora is bffs with Riku and Kairi; Van doesn’t really have friends aside from Sora, but occasionally hangs out with Axel and Demyx. Both Sora and Van are human and unaware of the supernatural goings on, at least at first. They are both juniors at DI High School.
RIKU ESTHEIM: Riku has no siblings and lives with just his Mother. He does have several cousins, though: Hope, Sephiroth and the triplets, Yazoo, Loz and Kadaj. Sephiroth is a Higher Baihu. It turns out Riku is as well, though he hasn’t “awakened” yet. The triplets are Lesser Baihu, a relative to the Higher Baihu but much less dangerous. Riku is bffs with Sora and Kairi, but can’t stand Vanitas. He used to be close with his cousin Hope when they were little. Despite being a baihu, Riku starts off as oblivious to the supernatural as Sora and Kairi. He’s a sophomore at DI High School. Riku didn’t always live in Destiny Islands, he and his Mother moved there when he was around seven years old.
AXEL & KAIRI TARHILL: Axel and Kairi are siblings, Axel being several years older than Kairi. The two of them had a rough start in life with their parents and eventually wound up living with their Uncle Reno. Kairi has a pet cat named Marie who hates Reno for no apparent reason: it turns out that Reno is a kitsune, and Marie can see through his human form. Kairi calls Axel “Lea”, a nickname from his childhood. Kairi is bffs with Sora and Riku and is a junior at DI High School. Axel is bffs with Demyx, works part-time at a coffee shop, and is a freshman at DI Community College. Kairi doesn’t know about the supernatural, but Axel knows a tiny bit because of Demyx.
DEMYX ROSENBURG: Demyx comes from a big family: he has two younger brothers, Reks and Vaan, and also two older brothers, Basch and Noah. He keeps fish as pets and works at the city aquarium part-time. Demyx plays guitar as a hobby. He is also a freshman attending musical arts classes at DI Community College. In his spare time, Dem researches and tinkers with water magic, but keeps it a closely-guarded secret. He’s bffs with Axel, and Axel is the only other person who knows about his witchy leanings.
XION LOCKHEART: Xion has an older sister, Tifa, and a cousin, Selphie, and the three of them live together in Traverse Town. Xion is a powerful psychic that Roxas and Ven consult on a semi-regular basis. She’s not very social because her abilities make it mentally painful for her to get close to most people: exceptions to this are Roxas and Ven (who know how to Shield their thoughts and emotions from her), as well as Selphie (whom she is very close to) and, more recently, Namine. Xion does not attend public school and instead takes her courses online. She enjoys reading in her spare time.
AQUA & TIDUS MASON: Aqua has a younger brother, Tidus, whom she lives with and takes care of. She and Tidus are both kelpies, though they don’t have the malicious tendencies that most of their kind have—they are ostracized by other kelpies for it, but that suits them just fine. Tidus is still too young to use his shapeshifting abilities yet, and is basically stuck in his human form until said abilities develop properly. Aqua works at the aquarium full-time, sometimes along with Demyx, and is close friends with Terra. Tidus is friends with practically everyone at DI High School and around town.
TERRA FAIR: Terra is a senior at DI Community College, working on his dissertation and helping out as a student-teacher in a couple of classes. He works at a local dojo teaching kendo and mixed martial arts. Terra has no siblings and lives on his own, but does have a young cousin, Zack, who attends the dojo and has a habit of following him around whilst radiating hero-worship. Terra is close friends with Aqua, whom he has known since they were very young: he is the only one outside of Aqua and Tidus who know that the two are kelpies.
NAMINE NAKAHARA: Namine is a long-time friend of Roxas and Ven. She can occasionally foretell the future through her artwork, and, even more occasionally, influence the future through her artwork. Roxas and Ven put her in touch with Xion and they quickly bonded through their shared experiences/abilities, despite having never met in person. Namine is also friends with Hayner, Pence and Olette back in Roxas and Ven’s home of Twilight Town.
SAIX RONSO: Saix is an old childhood friend of Axel’s, though they aren’t close anymore: when he turned 13, Saix found out from his parents that he came from werewolf lineage, and upon his first shifting a few months later, he discovered that he can’t control his wolf form. Though he never explained this to Axel, he broke off their friendship out of fear of harming the other boy some day without meaning to. Axel thought—and still thinks—that Saix was just being a dick, not knowing that he was looking out for Axel’s well-being. Saix is a sophomore attending several business and management classes at the DI Community College and generally keeps quiet and to himself. He can’t stand cats and cats can’t stand him. His childhood nickname was “Isa”.

CREATURE INFO
BAIHU (HIGHER): Higher Baihu are Chinese demons related to the tiger. Some are orange and some are white, with the white being the rarer of the two. They are extremely powerful both physically and magically and capable of taking on two forms besides their human one; one of a completely animal baihu, and a form in-between their human and baihu forms. In general, it’s advisable to avoid confrontation with a baihu entirely, though baihu can be killed via a knife/dagger made from either the sharpened tooth or claw of an azure dragon. They can also be injured through dark magic or fire/fire magic, though it won’t kill them.
BAIHU (LESSER): A cousin to higher-baihu. Lesser Baihu are much more common and related to a variety of smaller wildcats as opposed to the tiger. They have some of the same abilities (transformation, magic, physical prowess) as their higher cousins, but at a much weaker level. They are more-or-less tricksters, and are known for their curiosity. Lesser-baihu can be killed much more easily than higher-baihu, through physical means or magic (an azure dragon dagger isn’t necessary.)
WEREWOLVES: Werewolves are normal people most of the time—they only transform during the full-moon cycle (the night before the full moon, the night of the full moon and the night directly after the full moon.) When in their wolf form, they have little to no control over their actions and are very dangerous. Werewolves can be killed via a silver bullet to the head or heart. Silver knives can be used to slow one down, but will not actually kill it; the wounds from the knife will be exceedingly painful but will heal relatively quickly. Some werewolves are born into the bloodline, but some are created: a bite or scratch from a werewolf is infectious to humans, turning the infected party into a werewolf themselves at the next full moon cycle. There is no known cure.
KELPIES: Kelpies are horselike creatures with Scottish origins who must remain close to a water source and are capable of taking on a human form. Some more experienced ones can take on other forms as well, though usually of aquatic creatures. Most kelpies are relatively malevolent, tricking wayward travellers and then drowning them in bodies of water. They can be killed via traditional means (guns, knives, etc.), but they will also die if they are more than a certain distance from water and/or can’t completely submerge themselves at least once every 24 hours. In this modern day and age, just having a long shower or bath will do the trick.
WITCHES: Witches are normal people who delve into ancient magic. They can be good or evil, depending on the person. It is possible for certain people to transcend their humanity once they reach a certain level of magic: this is how elementals are born/created. This is extremely difficult to achieve, though, and so elemental witches are extremely rare. While still human, witches can be killed in the same ways as any other human. Elementals must be killed in some way via their opposing element.
KITSUNE: Kitsune are Japanese fire demons related to the fox. They are generally mischievous, fun-loving and benevolent creatures and most have successfully and seamlessly taken on human form and integrated into the human world. Kitsune are rarely dangerous to anyone, but should one need to be dispatched, they can be killed via a knife to the heart. You can also capture a kitsune’s spirit by binding it to a Shinto shrine—this leaves the soulless body of the kitsune to live on as a regular fox for the rest of its’ days.
MOOGLES: Moogles are small relatives of fairies, diminutive in size and friendly in nature. Their natural form is a (usually white, but sometimes purple or striped) rabbit-like creature with short ears and tiny bat-wings, though they can take the form of other smaller animals. House cats are a favorite disguise of theirs. Whatever their form, they can be distinguished by a small patch of red fur on their forehead and the soft "kupo" sounds they make when they are happy. It's common for moogles to live amongst humans and they often integrate into households disguised as family pets, where their helpful and affectionate nature shines through as they make themselves useful secretly finding lost objects or repairing broken children's toys. They are pretty much defenseless and easily killed, but due to their universally docile nature Hunters never bother them.
HEARTLESS: Heartless are creatures composed of dark matter and magic. They travel through the shadows and avoid daylight when and where possible. Sunlight hurts them, but will only kill them through prolonged exposure: death through sunlight burns them to ash. Heartless don't have hearts of their own, and need to devour human hearts to survive, the fresher the better. They kill in a particularly vicious manner, fixating on a person and hunting them down relentlessly before cornering them and ripping the still-beating heart from their chest. They can be killed through light magic (or extensive sunlight exposure, as previously mentioned), injured via silver, and captured/trapped in a circle of ash taken from the death-site of one of their own kind who died via sunlight.
UNVERSED: The Unversed are spirit-like beings who are the manifestation of negative emotions. Once freed upon the world they will choose a household or specific person and sink their way into the minds of their targets and feed on the negative emotions that their possession creates. Eventually, the possessed are driven to homicide or suicide, at which point the unversed moves on to a new meal elsewhere. Unversed cannot be "killed", per se, but can be dispelled through exorcism and are weak against salt and iron.
DUSKS: Dusks are creatures whose origins are pretty much unknown. They are thought to possibly be related to wendigo, or possibly heartless. Dusks are essentially empty shells-- literally. They are skin with some basic muscle, but lack their own bones. On their own they have a lot of trouble moving, or even keeping themselves upright. To combat this problem, dusks hunt down and kill humans, then rip out their bones and insert them into themselves, thereby constructing their own skeleton. Because the bones aren't living anymore, though, they degrade and decompose, and after a time the dusks need to replace them with fresh ones, so they go out hunting again and do just that. Dusks have no internal organs to speak of. They can be killed by beheading. Once beheaded, they must be dismembered and then each part must be buried separately.
DREAM EATERS: Dream Eaters are beings who survive by ingesting the dream energy of other creatures, usually humans. There are two kinds of Dream Eaters, the first being the Nightmares. Nightmares induce their namesake in their victims and then eat the negative energy that is produced. They will return to the same victim night after night until the person is so drained that they die. The second, much more rare kind of Dream Eater are Spirits, who induce good dreams instead. They are probably where the succubus and incubus legends originated, though Dream Eaters rarely take the form of humans, generally preferring to appear as creatures that are a mismatch of different animal parts. Dream Eaters can be temporarily dispelled with iron, but generally have to be exorcised to get rid of them.
BUGS: Bugs are a newly discovered kind of entity. They are born of electricity and live inside appliances and electronics. They are mischievous, causing computer crashes, electrical shorts and the occasional mild shock, but generally don't cause any serious damage. They can be killed by grounding them out with water.

SPECIAL WEAPONS/SUPPLIES
AZURE DRAGON DAGGER: An Azure Dragon Dagger is a rare type of weapon forged from either the tooth or the claw of an Azure Dragon. As Azure Dragons have been extinct for centuries, these daggers are extremely hard to come by. Azure Dragon Daggers are capable of killing many things, but their biggest claim to fame is the ability to dispatch the near-invulnerable Higher Baihu.
SILVER: Silver is used in many forms and for many purposes. Pure silver is the most prized and useful, and if often forged into a variety of weapons. Silver can injure most things, including Heartless, but is the primary weapon used against werewolves and the only thing that can kill them.
HEARTLESS ASH: Heartless Ash is what's left of a heartless that had been caught in the sunlight and burned to death because of it. Heartless Ash is specifically used against other Heartless: when sprinkled on the ground it becomes a barrier they cannot cross.
SALT: Salt is used to cleanse and is primary in the dispelling of various ghosts and spirits. It can also be used as a barrier against spirits as well.
IRON: Iron, particularly consecrated iron, can be used to temporarily dispel many kinds of ghosts and spirits.
KEYBLADE: The Keyblade is legendary, possibly magical weapon, one of a kind, that was lost to time long ago. It can supposedly kill any kind of creature, though that is of course speculation as it hasn't been seen in centuries and no one has any idea where it might be now.

...Aqua and Tidus' last name is a nod to my fav Ask Aqua tumblr and Namine's last name is the last name of her Japanese VA. I originally wanted to give Namine Yuna's last name... but Yuna doesn't have one either. XD; *FACEPALM* I waffled on Riku's last name and kept changing it around and around and back again... but now I've decided and I like the name/extended family I've given him. ♥
I had originally planned for it to have a touch of RikuRoku in it because OTP WUT, but now that I'm really thinking on it, I might just write it as an adventure!fic and not put any shippy stuff in it. Though I might still throw in a touch of AkuDemy Friends With Benefits because that's just HOW THEY ARE in my brain. lol.
In any case, Phantasmagoria is quickly turning into a massive beast of a project. Why is that not surprising...? xD;;
EDIT: Also, I'm considering giving Dean, Sam and maybe Castiel from SPN cameos in this at some point. Just for lawls and to see how many people FREAK OUT in the comments. >3
