The Canuck Version
Aug. 5th, 2024 05:36 pmI'm relatively new to writing SPN fanfiction, as I've said before. I've written Horror High, and I'm partway through writing Cheap Motel and Counting Scars. Then there's Storm Season, which may or may not ever get written, depending on how I feel after I've finished posting all of the others. The HH storyline is my first real foray into SPN fics, or at least the only one that's ever come to anything. Years back I wanted to write Colt, which was about the Hunter that Samuel Colt made THE Colt for back in the 1800's. But writing a western is so beyond my abilities... idk. As much as I wanted to write Jacob's story, I don't think I'll ever get it done just because of the setting.
BUT I have vague memories of wanting to write an OC-driven fic about a group of Hunters in Canada, basically doing the same kind of thing as Sam and Dean but with more Canadian monsters, in a lot of cases. I can't remember what I wanted the overarching STORY to be, but I had the characters figured out like ten years ago and have since lost the information. I think one of them was named "Kenneth", but I could be wrong? I would have to completely redo the characters if I wanted to write this fic. Which I kind of DO, but...
It goes back to my thriving on feedback, and if I wrote and posted this one I know I wouldn't get much of it from the fandom because it would all be original characters in original situations, though they might mention Sam and Dean in passing once in a while. Maybe Sam and Dean could make a cameo? idk. But in general OC fics don't get feedback or much love and I know I would just completely lose interest in the fic a couple of chapters in when I didn't get any kudos or reviews. I would have to do with it what I did with HH and write the entire thing before I started posting it, and then be secretly bitter when I posted new chapters and no one gave a shit.
I think I could get away with writing Colt, even though it's mostly OCs, because Samuel Colt is in it? But I dunno. Like I said, I think writing Colt would be like pulling teeth for me. I don't want to put myself through that just for a fanfic.

EDIT: Okay so the Canadian!SPN fic is called "Numinous" and I just wrote the first paragraph of it LET'S FUCKIN' GO.
