vanimadin: (Honey)

Hokay, another drabble today! But this time it's not N.D. related. Other than N.D., I also have two other anime fan-universes (three if you count my second gen Magic Knights from like ten years ago.) The first is Fruits Cocktail, the OC Fruits Basket Jyuunishi/universe that Cassandra-san and I have.

The next is my A la Carte team, which is an OC Tokyo Mew Mew project. There are six girls in it all together, and they're kind of a next gen thing too. This drabble is the first thing I've ever actually written out for AlaC, just introducing the main character a little.

Honey's really kind of depressed and downplayed in this, though she does end up much more cheerful later on once she's all settled in and has some friends. She starts to turn around pretty fast as soon as Momo enters the picture. Momo is the next character to be introduced, too. She's a classmate once Honey starts classes at her new school, among other things.

Sometimes Honey Wright really, really wished that her father's job didn't force him to travel so much. At fifteen years old, she had already lived in nine different countries; and while most people would have considered her lucky to have seen so much of the world in her lifetime, she could honestly say that it had gotten old a long time ago.

It wasn't seeing the different countries that she disliked, though, it was the fact that she could never make lasting friendships. The longest she had ever lived in one place was two years. That had been Spain. She had made several close friends then, only to have to leave them behind when her father's career forced them to move to yet another part of the globe. That had been when she was twelve, and since then she had pretty much given up on friends. It simply wasn't worth the pain of leaving them behind time and time again-- especially since she still missed Marina and Abigail so much it hurt, despite not having seen them in three years.

Photos were the only thing she had anymore. Photos and emails. And unfortunately, Marina and Abby simply weren't very good at writing to her.

Nowadays, she was living in Japan. More specifically, Kyoto. Despite all the places she had been in her life, Honey still found herself a little overwhelmed by the sheer scale of Japan. Everything was huge, and there were more people here than she had ever imagined could be crammed into a single city. The whole thing made her feel almost claustrophobic, and Honey often retreated to her bedroom, curtains pulled closed, to hide from it for a while.

She wouldn't be able to keep doing that for long, though, since she was scheduled to start school-- in less than a week. The date was fast approaching.

I hate this. I don't want to go. How am I supposed to learn? I don't even know the language that well.

She had been doing lessons in Japanese, but still wasn't very sure of herself when it came down to it. Not that there was much she could do. Going to school wasn't optional, and arguing over it with her father was a waste of time and energy.

I'll just be the outsider again. That new kid who doesn't have friends and hangs out alone all the time.

A sigh, dejected, and Honey went back to work.

Currently, she was unpacking the last of her things to the shelves in her room. She only had two boxes left to go, out of seven all together. She didn't have many things, really, considering her age; her clothes, some framed photos, a few CDs and a couple of shelves worth of books. Her alarm clock, computer and a couple of stuffed animals as well. With all the moving she and her father did, she found it easier to keep her room sparse. It saved time and made packing and unpacking much easier.

One hand reached into the box, open and resting on her bed. She pulled out a small stuffed polar bear. It had been a gift from her mother, and was the most precious thing she owned, as far as she was concerned. Her mother had passed away five years earlier-- cancer. By the time it had been diagnosed, there had been nothing anyone could do.

Her mother had given her the bear when they had been living in France, so she had given it a French name; Blanche. Honey smiled a little, then reached to set the doll at the head of her bed. That was where he always stayed, no matter where in the world they lived.

Another sigh. The next thing she pulled out was her clock-- also shaped like a bear. Her father had given it to her shortly after they had moved to Spain. He had found it at a bazaar somewhere, and brought it home because it matched Blanche. An adorable tubby white bear that sang a Spanish "good morning" song in an overly-cute voice when it went off in the mornings. Much less annoying than the blaring buzzer of her last alarm.

"Hon?"

A familiar voice. Honey looked over toward the doorway just in time for her father to poke his head into the room. "Yeah, Dad?"

"I've got to go out for a bit." He waved one hand in an absent gesture. "You'll be okay here by yourself until I get back?"

"Of course." She offered a smile. "I'm fifteen, Dad."

"I know, I know. But it's a new place and everything..." Trailing off, he shrugged. "Anyway, I'll be back around dinner time. Lock the door behind me."

"I will." Honey nodded, eyes drifting down to the box in front of her again. Her father added another warning about locking the door before disappearing again. A moment later she listened as he shuffled around by the front door, then stepped outside. It clicked shut softly behind him.

Honey didn't move for a moment-- then shook her head and headed to lock the door.

Of course she would be okay by herself. She'd been alone for so long she could barely remember anything else.

A la Carte is still very much in the development stage. I'm still going over characters and plots and whatnot. Honey and Momo are about the only thing that's pretty much completely figured out.

In any case, Honey's full name is Honey Anna Wright, and she was born in the USA. She's blonde with blue eyes. Her mother died when she was ten, and so she lives with just her father. Her father's job takes them all around the world, which would be cool except it means that Honey can't make/keep friends very well. She secretly resents her father for putting her through that for her whole life.

But like I said, Honey perks up a lot once Momo enters the picture, and over time she does learn to forgive her father for dragging her all over the planet. It's not like he has much choice in the matter, anyway. *shrug*

Honey's red data animal is the Polar Bear. ♥

I'm looking forward to writing more with my TMM crew. They're going to be a fun bunch. ^^ And now I'm considering reviving my Rayearth OCs, too. Hmm.

What can I say? I'm a hopeless fangirl over some things. ^^;;
