365x2 Days Of RP~ ♥

As of today it's two whole years since
fantacination and I started working on the Kingdom Hearts Zombocalypse AU. \o/
Basically, two years ago I had a vague idea of doing a zombie apocalypse Kingdom Hearts fic, and in discussing the idea with Michi-darling and working out some details we ended up deciding to work on it together in the form of an RP fic. YAY, right? I just recently titled it "Life After Death".
The main story revolves around Roxas and Riku (it's RikuRoku centered) and is kind of a Boy-Meets-Boy-And-They-Fall-In-Love-During-The-End-Of-The-World thing. I play Roxas and Michi plays Riku, I also play Demyx and she plays Axel; then we kind of share the rest of the characters between us. It's an action-romance with quite a bit of PWP in it. ♥
It's been a TON of fun, and is like a thousand pages long now. I'm about to the point of starting to put it together in word and edit it into a workable fanfiction form so we can post it. I haven't officially started that yet, but since it's our second anniversary, I figured I'd post a snippet here.
This is from a more recent part of the RP/fic and is a huge spoiler, not that anyone cares at this point. XD
His panicked shouting woke Axel and Sora. Of course it did. And even as they were getting up, there was a crash from outside-- Roxas knew immediately that the front doors had finally given in. He was scrambling across the room in an instant, snatched the police baton from the top of the desk and threw the door open. Out in the corridor, he looked down the hall toward the entryway--
Zombies were pouring in. The safety glass had finally shattered inward, leaving nothing between them and-- Riku. Oh God, Riku. He was just standing there. Why wasn't he running?!
Roxas shook his head, snapped the baton out and moved forward quickly, shoes skidding in the shards of glass. He reached Riku a half-second before the first of the undead, grabbed at the back of the older teen's shirt and yanked. Normally he couldn't budge Riku, not if Riku didn't want him to. But this time he didn't resist, and Roxas shoved him back, then lashed out with the baton even as he was stepping between the other boy and the oncoming horde.
They were not going to take Riku from him, too.
For one insane moment, Riku thought a zombie had gotten behind him, pulling him back, and then he was sprawling on the floor looking up as a zombie reached out for Roxas.
"R-Roxas?" But he'd left them- they were asleep-- no the crash must have... But he couldn't let Roxas be here. He'd die. He wasn't supposed to die.
Struggling to his feet, Riku got up and ran his crowbar through a zombie as it fell at Roxas from the side. More were coming, shambling relentlessly towards them-- "Roxas! Get back!"
A pipe knocked away another zombie as it lurched towards his left. "You fucking idiots!" Axel yelled, sweeping another lot away. "Everyone fall back!"
The baton was good. Better than his baseball bat had been. It was light, fast through the air, stronger and easier to use. But Roxas wasn't thinking about any of those things at the moment. No, he was lashing his arm out, knocking back another zombie while he fought against the overwhelming urge to whirl on Riku and scream at him for being such a fucking moron. And then Riku actually had the audacity to tell him to get back. They were going to have some serious words later. Assuming they survived this.
There was no way they were going to fight them all off this time, though, and about the time Roxas was scrambling frantically to think of escape plans-- and coming up with precisely nothing-- Axel's voice yelled out over the fray. Roxas took his advice as sound, spun around, grabbed hold of Riku's shirt again and shoved him toward the hallway. "Go, dammit! Go!"
The first door in the corridor was the office, not the comm room-- but with zombies snapping on his heels, Roxas decided to take it. Just as he was pushing Riku through the door he saw Axel and Sora zip past, headed for the next room-- and then he slammed the door, clicking the lock into place barely in time. Next door he heard running footsteps and another heavy door slam, followed by the scraping of furniture. Axel and Sora had made it alright.
Riku struggled a little when he felt himself pushed forward, back into the hall-- but resisting meant the chances of Roxas escaping would go down and his body felt far too heavy, stumbling as he ran. Luckily Roxas wasn't planning on taking any scenic routes. Riku found himself shoved back into the office, stumbling on the carpet and crashing to the floor as Roxas locked the door in place.
Riku rolled over onto his side, trying to get to his feet and lurching for the door- maybe he was half-zombie already and he just didn't know it. "Let me-- I can't stay--"
He had barely gotten the latch in place, hadn't even had a chance to look for furniture to block the door, and Riku was already trying to push past him and back out into the hall. Roxas dug his heels in and flung his baton to the side, then shoved hard at Riku's chest, pushing him back a step. His panic was still there, but along with it was adrenaline, confusion, worry-- and anger. He was furious. Just what in the hell did Riku think he was doing?!
When Riku moved forward again, Roxas fisted his hands in the front of the taller boy's shirt and simply refused to let go. Then he glared upward angrily. "What the hell?!" He snapped, and jerked his arms, jostling Riku in the process. "Dammit Riku, what were you doing?! You just up and leave when we're all asleep?! Wander out into the hall, and then stand there and do fucking nothing when the doors break and the zombies come in after you?! WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU?!"
Riku stumbled back, nearly falling over again, but then Roxas hauled him back up, grabbing fistfuls of his shirt and yanking him forward. Riku grabbed his wrists, tugging them away and barely flinching at the shouting. His head pounded, but he pushed the discomfort down. He could still run if he had to.
"I have to go. It's not... It's not safe. I need. To lead them away."
A thought occurring then, Riku started to look around for a window. He could still do it. He could still find a way to draw them out...
His hands were pulled away from Riku's shirt, and what he was saying didn't seem to be getting through to the older boy. He was looking around, muttering to himself about having to leave and leading the zombies away...
Roxas saw red. Stalking over to where Riku was inspecting the one small, barred window in the room, he grabbed hold of him again, then spun him around and, using that momentum, shoved him to the floor. Then Roxas descended on him before he could get up again, straddling his waist and holding onto his arms. He glared downward fiercely. "You think I'm going to let you fucking sacrifice yourself?" The words were snarled. "You're not going anywhere! You're staying here! You're not leaving me, I won't let you!"
After the initial furniture-moving next door it had been quiet, but with Roxas and Riku thumping around in their own room, finally Sora's voice called out. "You guys okay in there?"
Roxas didn't look up, just continued to glare at Riku. "We're fine!"
Riku gave a choked cough, crashing back to the floor and the wind knocked out of him as he was forcefully thrown onto the floor, pinned down by Roxas' weight. And then he was yelling in his face again, looking so angry and scared that Riku couldn't stand to look at him knowing he'd caused it.
He kept his eyes on the desk instead, just letting Roxas yell at him until a voice interrupted. Sora's voice. Sora would die here, too, if he didn't...
Riku took a deep breath, closing his eyes and using the moment's pause to talk again. "It's the only way. We can't hide out here forever-- and I- I'm expendable now."
"Y-you don't sound like you guys are fine," Sora's voice yelled back. "Is there something wrong? Roxas? Is Riku okay?"
This time Sora shouted and Roxas ignored him. First Riku went off on his own, then he was trying to leave again, and now...
"What kind of bullshit is that?! No one's expendable! No one!" Roxas yelled, still glaring, "you're being stupid and reckless! Trying to throw yourself away, and for what?! They'd tear you apart ten feet from here and come right back after us! You're next expendable, Riku! No one is! Especially not you! Never! You're a stubborn, bullheaded idiot, that's what you are! A fucking asshole who thinks he can martyr himself for some reason, and-- and--!" He grit his teeth, shaking his head sharply, and his voice cracked slightly on the next shout; "--and I can't lose you!"
Then a pause in his tirade, and Roxas' grip of Riku's arms loosened the tiniest bit. The next thing he said came out a whisper. "I can't lose you too... don't you get that...?"
Riku kept his eyes on the ceiling, barely understanding every third word Roxas said and already knowing what he was saying anyway. Then Roxas' voice went quiet and Riku slowly wrapped a hand around Roxas', bringing it to his neck and pressing it where the graze was, still . "Roxas... It's too late." He tried to keep his voice steady. He hadn't meant to tell him. He was supposed to save them before it happened.
"I'm... I'm sorry." The fever was burning him up. He wasn't cold now. Just too warm.
Riku seemed to have stopped struggling, but his eyes were distant, unfocused, like he wasn't actually listening. Roxas was about to shake him again, just for good measure-- but then Riku took his hand and brought it up, pressed it over a specific spot on his shoulder, and murmured an apology, whispered that it was too late. Roxas didn't understand for a moment-- but then his mind went back to their time together earlier, and the wound that Riku had explained away as a scrape from the locker room.
Time stopped and his breath caught in his throat. Blue eyes widened, panicked. "What? N-no...!" His heart lept to his throat. "No, no, no... no, oh God, please no..."
Then he was moving again, hand shaking, fumbling in his haste, and pushed Riku's shirt up, shoving it out of the way, stripping it off-- the older boy's skin was flushed, felt too warm against his palms, under his fingers-- and there it was. Not a scrape. Not an accident. A jagged row of tooth marks, carved into Riku's pale flesh. Roxas felt tears begin to spill from his eyes, hot and fast, blurring his vision. "No... no, Riku... no! You can't... please, please no..."
Riku was barely aware of Roxas stripping him, the tug of the shirt over his head pulling his hair away from his neck even as the cold air chilled his fevered skin. It wasn't long before Roxas' fingers found the scar. Somewhere, he felt his heart wrench. This was it. When all their dreams broke apart.
He'd hoped to get out while he still had his own strength, but it looked like it was going to be impossible now. It had come faster than he'd expected. Was that what his parents had felt like? Normal one moment and hot and cold the next? How long before he started... before he wanted to eat Roxas, too? Before he became a moaning, shambling corpse, the stuff of nightmares.
And then it was raining. Riku blinked, then reached up towards Roxas, gently wiping away the wetness and wrapping his arms about those slender, trembling shoulders. "Roxas... You don't have to... keep our promise. Just... just let me go out." If they ate him now, there'd be nothing left of him to change, at least. One less zombie to worry about. He'd spare Roxas the need to kill him. When Riku might just blindly kill him with undead strength. The thought made him sick to the stomach. Even worse than the thought of being eaten alive.
Riku reached up and wiped at his face, and then arms slid around him-- and Roxas shattered. He fell forward against the other boy, face against Riku's chest, shaking. "No!" His words were sobbed, and one hand pounded against the floor next to Riku's side. "No, you can't do this! You can't! I-- I won't let you!" His heart was breaking in two, he was sure of it. "You're not going out there! You're-- stay here! With me! I'll-- I'll keep my promise, just--- don't leave me like this!"
"Roxas..." Riku murmured, helpless to do anything for him and hating it. Instead, he held on a little more tightly, hands stroking down his lover's back. "You'll... you'll be okay."
"I can't stay here, Roxas. I'll kill you for sure if we're both trapped in here. I can't do that." If Roxas was even a hairsbreadth slow, too sentimental to kill him when the time came...
"I won't be fine!" Riku was trying to reassure him, but it wasn't working. How could it? He was bitten, he had the fever, he was-- was dying! Roxas shook his head, face still pressed into Riku's chest, and continued to sob uncontrollably. He couldn't do this-- he couldn't lose Riku, too! Roxas clung to him tightly, refusing to move. "I won't be fine without you! You're-- you're everything-- you're-- I can't--!" He broke down again, one hand lifting to clench in Riku's hair desperately. "You won't kill me! I'll keep my promise! I-- I won't let you go!"
From the other room, Sora's voice was starting to sound a little panicked. "Roxas?! Roxas, what's going on?!" But Roxas continued to ignore him.
"Roxas..." Riku shut his eyes, trying to hold him together when he was already breaking apart. What could he do? He was already dead. Just waiting for it to take over him completely.
Sora was still shouting but Riku couldn't muster the strength to shout back. What would he tell him anyway? Sorry, Sora, looks like I wasn't strong enough for this? Take care of everyone? Try to save Roxas? When knowing he was dying in the next room would probably tear Sora apart?
At a loss, he tilted Roxas' face up towards him and pressed their lips together in a watery kiss.
Riku was still going to try to convince him to let him go. Roxas shook his head, hair mussing against Riku's chest, and tightened his grip in the older boy's hair without even realizing it. Then Riku said his name, and finally words abandoned him. Roxas sobbed again, harshly, chest shuddering at the force behind it. He wasn't going to let him go. He wasn't going to move. He was going to stay right there and hold Riku on the floor if he had to, for as long as it took. Because Riku was his life, and to just let him walk out into the wastes to die-- it was impossible.
Gentle fingers touched his cheek and tilted his face up. Roxas turned puffy, red-rimmed eyes to his boyfriend-- and the following kiss just made the tears fall harder, spilling down to fleck across Riku's skin as well. "I can't..." His voice was quiet and hoarse, muffled in part by the older teen's lips. "I can't do it. I need you. I need you... s-so please..." Closing his eyes again, he attempted to swallow another little sob, but was largely unsuccessful. "Please."
Roxas' tears felt cool on his skin; bitterly salty on his tongue. Quietly, he deepened the kiss, parting his mouth and crushing their mouths together because he wanted to imprint the feel of his lips on his own. Because he wanted to tell Roxas it will be okay, that he'll stay, that he'll be with him forever. Because it might be the last kiss they'll ever get.
"I love you," Riku said simply.
Believe it or not, Roxy and Riku started off hating each other. They obviously don't anymore. Haha. It was interesting to work through their relationship from where they started to where they are now. :3
Now on top of still working on zombie!verse, we're also RPing out a Kingdom Hearts school battle AU, which is fondly called Bataille!verse (Bataille is what the battle system is called). I play Roxas and Demyx again, and she plays Riku and Axel, but I also play Ven and Michi plays Vanitas. Then there's misc other characters as well. It's RikuRoku too. We both have a weakness for pairing those boys up together. ♥
