Whiskers

Planning on posting all my fics here over time. I've already posted the prologue to Outlander as well as Goodbye, so here's the next one. Whiskers was written as a gift-fic for Mother's Day way back in 2006. It's short but it's cute and I like it. And at the time it was a huge accomplishment for me to have finished something even that short. I hadn't written anything in over a year.

Now I've just started Outlander and I'm pretty much in the same boat. Haven't written much at all the last few years. =/

Notes: This takes place in the same AU/future universe as Yesterday, etcetera_cat's No Tomorrow, and an old RPG that we cavorted about, called "Shifted Silver" (which was created/run by kierseth, and is where this particular AU came from originally. It's sadly not around anymore.) Shortly, Gifts have mutated into a broader spectrum than exist in the canon/books, and some Companions are no longer pure white.
Summary: A Companion is tricked into going On Search. Sometimes house cats know more than we think they do!

I really like the characters from this one. In fact, Mouse, Fawzi and Nida were supposed to be in Outlander before I decided to use Sorret and Divya instead. I think I want to work on Mouse/co. in another one-shot that focuses on them as the main characters before I bring them into any other fics. I just feel like I should maybe work on their characterization and personalities a bit more-- Whiskers was a little too short to work too much of that out. (I don't even know what Nida's Gift(s) is as of yet.)

Once I have more of a handle on them I can start using them in conjunction with other people from the same universe. I might even be able to work them into Outlander as minor characters at some point later. Guess we'll see~

Behind The Blue

And another one for today. Behind The Blue was the very first Valdemar fic that I dared to post online. Some day I'll dig out Family or Silver and post some of them here. They were really bad. XD;; Anyway, this one isn't so terrible actually. And it's more a drabble than an actual fic. But whatever. *shrug*

This is also one of a very few fics that I used canon Valdemar characters in. I much prefer to write my Valdemar fics with original characters. This one was kind of an experiment in using canon characters. It was also my first time tinkering with Companion-POV fic, which eventually lead to Angel Wings, Devil Mine and Brothers At Arms... so I guess it was pretty successful!
